Dr. J. Craig Morrison, President of Southern Joint Replacement Institute (SJRI), is passionate about joint replacement surgery – both successful surgical outcomes and a compassionate experience for his patients. Dr. Morrison is board certified and fellowship-trained in primary, complex, and revision hip and knee replacement. With over twenty years of experience, as a partner at SJRI, Dr. Morrison performs over five hundred replacement surgeries each year.
A graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Morrison completed his orthopedic residency at Vanderbilt. He then attended the prestigious Otto Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston before returning to Nashville to join SJRI.
Dr. Morrison is passionate about successful joint replacement outcomes for more than just patients that arrive in his clinic. He is committed to providing orthopedic care and evaluation to the underserved in Nashville as a clinician at Siloam Health. Additionally, Dr. Morrison has performed joint replacements globally through medical mission work with Orthopedics Overseas and Operation Walk. Inspired by his experiences, Dr. Morrison and his partners founded the Walk Strong Foundation to perform and support joint replacement surgeries in other countries. As chairman of the Humanitarian Committee, Dr. Morrison lead the efforts of the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons in encouraging service work in the joint replacement field to his colleagues.
Dr. Morrison has authored many articles in leading joint replacement journals, contributed to academic curriculum and regularly speaks about joint replacement domestically and internationally. His partnership with industry has led to the design of improved instrumentation and technologies to better serve patients and improve outcomes. He and his partners have consistently contributed to the field through research, writing, training and education, and in their application of data to secure some of the best joint replacement outcomes in the nation.
